How old were you when you first began to write?
I’ve always written. When I was in school, I wrote plays for the class to perform and loved to draw scenes from stories in my head. In college, when I wasn’t studying, I would write down all the inside jokes and adventures my roommates and I had. I didn’t write much when I was working, but a few years ago, after some family medical issues, I picked up my pen again, mostly as a stress reliever.
Is writing your only job?
Hardly! I have to fit my writing time in between all the tasks everyone undertakes every day.
Is this your first book?
This is my…wait…counting…eighth book. Wow! I didn’t realize I’d written that many.
Where did you get your story idea?
That’s easy. This one is a mashup of Deadwood, the television series, and Outland, the Sean Connery sci-fi movie. I wanted to write about a jungle planet mining colony and the sheriff who comes in to bring law and order.
Tell us about Beyond Love…
Every mining outpost needs a sheriff, and Eidan Cozad is just the Eleoni for the job. Newly arrived on planet with his deputy sister in tow, he faces corruption, hostility, and nearly continuous rain. A chance encounter with a defiant human postal worker adds yet one more complication to his mission.
Neat and tidy Teah Ruida thought when the Eleoni arrived and enforced some law and order, it would be easier for her to deliver her packages. Instead, she’s somehow become embroiled in spat after spat with the handsome and assertive Sheriff himself. Even though she doesn’t want to think about it, she’s become madly curious if the rumor about the strange markings Eleoni hide under their clothes is true.
Tension between Eidan and Teah ignites into passion that defies the barriers between their races. When there’s a violent ambush initiated by the settlement’s criminal organization, the future of their love hangs in the balance.
Who is your favorite character in the book? Why?
My favorite character is Broose, an orphaned air cuttle. You’ll have to read the book to find out more about him!
Where can we buy the book?
What’s next for you?
My plan is to finish a ménage I’m about a third of the way through, then it’s either a spin off of Beyond Love, or a start a new series about an interstellar sports team.
Where can readers find you?
Thanks for stopping by today, JJ, and I wish you the best with this release. (I love the hero.)
